The Story Behind Write Now – The Vision for NewEx

From Early Programming to Modern Learning

My journey with learning technology began in the 1980s with a Commodore CBM. Although the technology was simple back then, it gave birth to the idea of what is today Write Now. The vision was clear from the start: to use interactivity to make learning letters and words fun and accessible.

Commodore CBM – The first computer used to develop Tutor — Commodore CBM – where the first lines of code were written.

It started with a program called Tutor, developed for my daughter Linda. It proved that when children are allowed to experiment with language without fear of making mistakes, they crack the reading code faster.

How Write Now Supports Development

Write Now is more than just an app; it is an educational tool designed to support children, young people, and dyslexics in their literacy development. The app works multisensorily, meaning that:

✓ Intuitive feedback: if the child types incorrectly, the keyboard becomes easier – removing frustration.
✓ Mastery: the results board and green checkmarks motivate repetition and practice.

NewEx – New Experiment

The name NewEx stands for "New Experiment". Every keystroke is a new experiment where the child learns through play and trial. With over 200,000 downloads of earlier versions, we know this method works and makes a real difference in children's desire to read.
